🔥 Trump's "New Middle East" and the Theology of Power
How Washington turned prophecy into policy and faith into firepower. When Donald Trump landed in Israel and declared the dawn of a "new Middle East," he was announcing the merger of theology and geopolitics — a sacred business deal between heaven and the military-industrial complex. Before Trump's arrival, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump were seen praying at the Western Wall, with cameras perfectly positioned and choreography that seemed divine. And behind them, the billboards read: "Cyrus the Great is alive." The message couldn't be clearer: Donald Trump, savior of modern Israel, the Cyrus of our times. The man who moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, recognized Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights, and according to his own words, did it all as a "favor" to his donors. If politics is theater, this was the apocalypse performed live. In Trump's speech, he bragged that he had given Israel the "best weapons in history," and that Israel "used them well." Used them well, as in,...

The 2020 census was marketed as an "actual enumeration," a neutral count of people for apportionment and funding. It was not. The same official who helped block a basic citizenship question in 2018, John M. Abowd, then the Census Bureau's Chief Scientist, pushed through a new, opaque methodology in 2020 called differential privacy. The new system deliberately injected mathematical noise into every block count in America, turning the census from a headcount into a model with knobs. The knob that mattered most was a single parameter, epsilon, a secrecy shroud known only to a small inner circle. Abowd argued that a single added question about citizenship posed an intolerable risk to data quality because there was, he said, not enough time to test it. Then he rushed an untested algorithm that altered every count in every neighborhood. The irony is so sharp it cuts: the man who warned that one question might distort the census approved a method that guaranteed distortion. Start with the...

💨 China sets new restrictions on rare earth exports: Sends stark warning to the West
Beijing's new rules announced on Thursday stipulate that licenses will be required for the export of technologies used in rare earth mining and processing, as well as for the manufacturing of magnets, which can be used in military technologies. Crucially, any foreign firm that wants to supply rare earths produced in China or processed with Chinese technologies outside China will also need to get a license, according to China's Ministry of Commerce. These restrictions send a particularly powerful signal because Chinese companies control more than 90 per cent of the world's processing capacity for rare earths. The new rules could also give President Xi Jinping greater leverage as he prepares to meet US President Donald Trump in South Korea later this month to discuss bilateral trade frictions. The rare earths that Beijing is increasing its control over are critical to a range of technologies from electric vehicles to wind turbines and defence systems. The new restrictions on rare...

Lefty socialist and mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani's campaign quietly took in nearly $13,000 in potentially illegal foreign donations — including one from his mother-in-law in Dubai, The Post has learned. At least 170 of the nearly 54,000 contributions to the leading Democratic candidate's campaign came from donors with addresses outside the United States, an examination of NYC Campaign Finance Board records found. Only US citizens or permanent legal residents are allowed to contribute to political campaigns and political action committees under federal, state and city law, and candidates are expected to return any of the illegal donations. Violators who knowingly accept foreign donations could face hefty fines and imprisonment. But so far, the campaign has failed to return 88 of the foreign donations worth a total of $7,190, records showed.

📰 AAS meeting highlights several new Hubble science findings
NASA's Hubble Space Telescope is providing a new perspective on the remote universe, including new views of young and distant galaxies bursting with stars. Scientists described the findings Tuesday in a news conference sponsored by the American Astronomical Society (AAS). Highlighted in the briefing were three discoveries — four unusually bright galaxies as they appeared 13 billion years ago, the deepest image ever obtained of a galaxy cluster, and a sampling of galaxies thought to be responsible for most of the stars we see today. The ultra-bright, young galaxies, discovered using data from NASA's Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes, are bursting with star formation activity, which accounts for their brilliance. The brightest one is forming stars approximately 50 times faster than our Milky Way galaxy does today. These fledgling galaxies are only one-twentieth the size of the Milky Way, but they probably contain about 1 billion stars crammed together. Although Hubble has...

❗ Why bother investing in the West? If it gets stolen anyway?
On September 30, 2025, the Dutch government dusted off a 1952 wartime emergency law — the Goods Availability Act — and used it for the first time in 73 years. The target? Nexperia, a Netherlands-based semiconductor manufacturer owned by Chinese firm Wingtech. Let's be clear about what this law was designed for. It was enacted during the early Cold War, when the Dutch government was genuinely worried about Soviet tanks rolling through the Fulda Gap and needing emergency powers to secure strategic resources. The law exists for when the country faces imminent invasion. The Netherlands has not, to my knowledge, been invaded by China. Yet here we are, watching The Hague invoke emergency wartime legislation to seize control of a company that makes basic chips for cars and consumer electronics. Not cutting-edge 3nm processors. Not classified military tech. Chips for your Volkswagen's antilock brakes. Nexperia employs thousands of Europeans, invested €130 million in local operations, and...

🔥 Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS Is Spraying Something Weird, Scientists Find
A new analysis of our solar system's interstellar interloper, 3I/ATLAS, reveals that it's spewing huge amounts of water — and astronomers can't immediately explain why. The object, which is widely believed to be comet, showed strong ultraviolet emissions that are unmistakable telltales of hydroxyl gas (OH), a byproduct of water, when astronomers imaged it with NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift space telescope before it disappeared behind the Sun. The emissions could only be spotted from space because the ultraviolet light would get absorbed in the atmosphere. Their findings, detailed in a new study published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, argue that the presence of all this OH indicates the comet is ejecting water vapor at a torrential rate of about 88 pounds per second — around the same rate as a fire hose running at full blast, according to a press release about the findings.
